In this episode, we speak with Sofía Macher, a sociologist from the National University of San Marcos, with a PhD in Sociology and Gender Studies from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. She served as a commissioner of Peru’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission (CVR) and as Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Coordinator (CNDDHH).

We reflect on the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, its importance in understanding the violence Peru endured, the challenges that remain in the pursuit of justice, and the urgent need to safeguard its archives as an essential part of the country’s historical memory.
